Pamela Turyatunga is making waves as Sustainability Manager at Absa Bank Uganda and as a compassionate advocate for social impact – notably as an Ambassador for One Young World and Future Generations Uganda. Her remarkable work integrates environmental stewardship, youth mentorship, and community-led development, fueling change far beyond conventional banking.

Tackling Teen Pregnancies with Purpose
In response to a 17% surge in teen pregnancies during COVID-19, Pamela wrote and published a book Alyvea and led a powerful powerful “Support a Teen Mother” initiative. Through this campaign, she has empowered over 500 young mothers with vocational training, financial literacy, school fee support, and sustainable agriculture, enabling them to plant vegetable and fruit gardens and build brighter futures.

A Force in Sustainability Leadership
As part of Absa’s Women Network Forum and working with One Young World, Pamela led the installation of a water purification system at TERREWODE Women’s Hospital, showing her dedication to clean water access and healthcare for vulnerable communities.

Global Ambassador & Thought Leader
Pamela served as Uganda’s flag-bearer at the One Young World Summit in Montreal, where she joined global leaders to tackle climate change, financial inclusion, and diversity. On this platform, she participated in life-changing conversations alongside luminaries like Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus and climate change expert Dr Johan Rockström.

She continues to drive sustainability conversations wholesale, including participating with Absa and My Tree Initiative Uganda in massive tree planting campaigns under the #AbsaForTrees movement.

Why Pamela Moves Nations

  • Bold Social Impact: Her teen motherhood campaign and water-access initiatives have directly improved thousands of lives.
  • Global Leadership: As a One Young World Ambassador and sustainability speaker, she brings Uganda’s voice to international discussions.
  • Community-Rooted Action: Pamela balances global strategy with hands-on initiatives, from planting trees to championing clean water.

As Pamela Turyatunga continues to lead within Absa Bank Uganda and beyond, she stands as a powerful example of empowered leadership: informed by sustainability, driven by service, and scaled through community. Her work illuminates how one dedicated leader can spark widespread change, and inspire a nation to act.
