“I think I’m going to have a stop,” he said.

“I’m going to have to take a break, see what we’ve done.”

The news will come as a blow to City.

It came on the same day their chances of signing Tottenham striker Harry Kane came to an end, with the England captain confirming he will be staying put this summer.

Guardiola, who has won three Premier League titles, one FA Cup and four successive League Cups with City, took a 12-month break from management after leaving Barcelona in 2012 before joining Bayern Munich.
