Stanbic Bank Uganda is strengthening its engagement with businesses and communities in the Bunyoro Sub-region through accessible banking services, business networking and support for healthcare facilities.

The bank recently brought its banking services closer to residents of Hoima through an outreach at Central Market, where its team helped customers explore account opening, digital banking registration and opportunities to become agent banking partners.

The initiative is aimed at making banking more accessible to traders and other residents by bringing services closer to where they conduct their daily business. Agent banking also offers an opportunity for eligible entrepreneurs to expand their business activities by providing banking services to customers in their communities.

Stanbic Bank also held a business forum in Hoima, bringing together key business influencers to discuss how financial services can better support self-employed entrepreneurs and salaried professionals contributing to the region’s economic activity.

Discussions focused on tailored credit options and digital banking channels, highlighting the importance of financial solutions that respond to the needs of different customer segments. Access to appropriate financing and convenient banking services can help businesses manage their operations, pursue growth opportunities and serve their customers more efficiently.

Beyond financial services, Stanbic Bank’s commitment to the region has also extended to healthcare support.

As part of its LOVE Month celebrations and in commemoration of 35 years of operations in Uganda, SBG Securities Uganda handed over medical equipment to Buhimba Health Centre III in Kikuube District, within the Bunyoro Sub-region.

Grace Ssemakula, Chief Executive of SBG Securities Uganda, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to supporting socio-economic development in the region.

“As we mark 35 years in Uganda, our commitment to driving socio-economic development across the Bunyoro Sub-region remains as strong as ever,” Ssemakula said.

The donation reflects the role that private sector institutions can play in supporting essential community services alongside their commercial activities. Improved access to medical equipment can help health facilities strengthen their capacity to serve patients, although the impact will also depend on staffing, maintenance and the availability of other essential resources.

Together, the banking outreach, business forum and healthcare donation demonstrate Stanbic’s engagement with different aspects of regional development, from financial inclusion and enterprise growth to community wellbeing.

For Hoima’s traders, entrepreneurs and professionals, access to convenient banking services and relevant financial products can support participation in the formal economy. Meanwhile, partnerships that strengthen community facilities can contribute to broader efforts to improve living standards across Bunyoro.

As Uganda’s economy continues to develop beyond its traditional commercial centres, sustained engagement with regional businesses and communities remains important in ensuring that financial services and private sector investment contribute to inclusive growth.
