Doreen serves as Head, Trade Finance & Africa–China Banking at Stanbic Bank Uganda, where she leads strategic trade solutions and plays a critical role in boosting economic ties between Uganda and its global partners.

A Proven Trade Finance Leader
Doreen is a seasoned banker with over 17 years of experience in corporate and trade finance. She began her career in relationship management and credit structuring, progressively growing into leadership roles within Stanbic Bank Uganda.

Her expertise spans structuring trade finance products, managing Africa–China banking portfolios, and advising on risk mitigation strategies for cross-border transactions.
In her current role, she architects bespoke financing solutions for import/export stakeholders, facilitates partnerships under the Africa Trade Barometer programme, and supports SMEs engaging with continental value chains. Her steady growth reflects dedication, results, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

Education & Professional Certifications
Doreen holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) from Makerere University, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Strategy and Leadership from Quantic School of Business and Technology, and is a Certified Trade Finance Professional (CTFP) from the International Chamber of Commerce Academy, equipping her with advanced knowledge of trade finance products and compliance.

She also earned a Moody’s Commercial Banking Mastery Certification, covering commercial lending, problem loans, accounting, profitability, and credit risk, and a Certificate in Credit Skills Development from IFS School of Finance, with specialization in commercial and advanced commercial lending.

This rich educational background underpins her strategic leadership in Uganda’s trade finance sector.

Forging Trade Bridges for SMEs
Under her leadership, Stanbic has strengthened its role in enabling Ugandan traders to access global markets. Doreen was instrumental in implementing the Africa Trade Barometer initiative, aimed at identifying trade gaps and supporting SMEs to tap into intra-Africa and Sino-African trade corridors. She regularly engages in high-level forums and contributes to multi-stakeholder dialogues that foster stronger commercial links for Uganda.
